Unger Furniture is a 4th generation company with over 100 years of service in the furniture business.
In 1901, William Unger (Old Bill, as his customers liked to call him) established Unger furniture in Melrose, Minnesota and subsequently opened stores in Morris, Montevideo, and Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Fred, old Bill's son, set up and ran the Sauk Centre store and later, Fred's son Bill joined the company.
Being civic minded, Bill is active in the community and volunteers at many area organizations: the Boy Scouts, Lions Club, American Heart Association (served as the State Chairman), Our Lady of Angels Parish and the St. Cloud Diocese.
Bill Unger realized the need to stay current in the furniture industry. So, he contracted Neil Forney of Bryant-Forney, a premiere furniture space planning interior design firm. Mr. Forney wholly improved the ambiance of our store converting Unger Furniture into one of the most dramatic furniture shopping experiences in Minnesota . Today, we showcase a much broader assortment of accessories and we can now satisfy the choosiest tastes in home decorating. Each of our departments have hundreds of items that give you the the selection you need to beautifully decorate your home.
Bill's son Tom became the 4th generation of Unger when he joined the company in 1997. Today, Tom continues the tradition his great-grandfather started by providing excellent customer service and name brand furnishings at affordable prices.
"It feels great to think that I am serving the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of some of our original customers!"
